Starlink x Our Future Prize | Kenya

Delivering high-speed internet to underserved learners in over 30 schools across Kenya — connecting children to education, no matter where they are.

The Process

Prepping for our first shoot in Africa felt pretty intimidating—we were constantly stressing over how to keep our gear and team minimal without losing the heart of the story. We headed into Kakuma (which literally translates to “nowhere”) with a tiny crew to support the non-profit Our Future Prize, and the welcome we got from the people there was incredible. Our mission took us to over 30 schools, ranging from those tucked inside massive refugee camps to some of the most remote village schools in the region.

Beyond just filming, we actually spent a huge chunk of our time acting as IT support—unboxing Starlink kits, mounting dishes, and training local teachers and students on how to get connected to the world for the first time. It really shifted our mindset; you always think you need a massive production to make a real impact, but this trip proved that a small team wearing multiple hats can do so much more than just capture a story. We’re so stoked to see how this connectivity ripples out and changes lives over the next few years.

The Result

By partnering with Our Future Prize, we successfully brought high-speed Starlink internet to over 30 schools across Kakuma refugee camp and remote Kenyan villages, directly bridging the digital divide for thousands of students. Our team didn’t just capture the story; we unboxed and installed the hardware, providing the hands-on training that transformed these isolated classrooms into global hubs for learning and opportunity.
